How to Get a Classic Menu View for Excel 2007 or 2010
The ribbon interface introduced by Microsoft into the 2007 and 2010 versions of Excel can be confusing to those used to the classic menu toolbar. The classic menu view can be enabled, but the answer doesn't lie with Microsoft. If, like many people you've upgraded your Microsoft Office suite and use the 2007 or 2010 versions, you'll know that the old menu toolbar has been replaced with a new ribbon interface.
Some of us like it and others don't. But for anyone who has spent years learning where all the functions were located on the menu toolbars; the new office interface is somewhat of a disaster. It looks pretty, but the thought of needing to re-learn where everything is, is daunting. Added to that is the fact that the loss in productivity can be costly. If your some-one who is a heavy user of Excel, use it daily to produce reports, manipulate large amounts of data or use it commercially what do you do?
There must be a better way and thankfully there is. Microsoft did NOT provide the functionality in their 2007 or 2010 versions of Excel to have a classic menu view. The answer to this is that you can get a classic view by using a third party Add-in.
For those of you unfamiliar with add-ins they are small pieces of software which extend the functionality of Microsoft Office applications. In Excel add in options can be found under Tools Add Ins. An example of this with Excel is to enable the Analysis Toolpak add in to provide additional functionality.
So, how does this relate to a classic menu toolbar for Excel's 2007 or 2010 version? An add in is available which, once downloaded and enabled will add a MENU toolbar to the existing ribbon interface.
The MENU toolbar provides access to all of the familiar menu options you expect to see in the 2003 version. It is presented to the user in the same way, so it looks and feels like a 2003 toolbar. By doing so, no productivity is lost and the Excel user is able to get a classic menu view.
So, where do you find the right add in to suit? There are freeware and shareware versions available on the web, but beware some have limited functionality and support. Like anything you get what you pay for. If your a commercial user of Excel, why not use a professional add-in?!
Professional add-ins with money back guarantees are available for small cost. Considering the functionality and productivity they enable they are worth the extra money. Get your add in and get back to productive time - today!

Right, third-party add-in can help us get classic menu view for Excel 2007 and 2010.
Classic Menu for Office 2007/2010 dramatically brings back classic menus and toolbars into Office 2007/2010 Ribbon, and makes Office 2007/2010 look like Office 2003.
