Starcomms, one of the leading telecommunications companies in the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) segment in Nigeria, has announced that it has spent about N1.35billion (around US$9 million) to improve capacity and strengthen its network in 10 cities in the West African country.
The cities include Abuja (federal capital territory) Oron, Ikot-Ekpene and Eket (Akwa-Ibom State); Jaij, (Kaduna State); Suleja (Niger State); Maiduguri (Borno State); Umuahia (Abia State); Tinapa (Cross River State) as well as Agbor (Delta State).
In a statement by the Chief Operating Officer at Starcomms, Logan Pather, the investment is in the areas of equipment and logistics, among others, and would see the company rolling out services to other parts of the country where the company previously had no coverage.
Pather added that the investment would lead to the improvement of its capacity in congested sites in areas where it currently has coverage.
According to him, Starcomms would continue to strive to meet the expectations of its subscribers scattered across the country. The huge investment made by the company would help strengthen its market share.
